LACRIL
ACUTE AND CHRONIC ARTHRITIS
HIGH MOLECULAR WEIGHT
Intra-articular inflammatory processes tend to degrade the sodium hyaluronate present in the affected joint. Lacril due to its high molecular weight and adequate viscosity, unlike other low molecular weight products, produces a rapid and natural normalization of the altered synovial fluid.
FORMULA
Each syringe contents:
Hyaluronate Acid (Sodium salt).............20 mg
Excipient q.s.............................................2 ml
CLINICAL INDICATIONS
For treatment of intra-articular diseases in horses: arthritis, arthrosis, osteoarthrosis, osteochondrosis, sinovitis, post joint lavage and post joint surgery. Also indicated in tendinitis.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
Intra-articular injection: for small and medium size joints, dose is 2 ml (20 mg). For larger joints dose is 4 ml (40 mg).
Several joints may be treated at the same time.
Treatment may be repeated weekly depending on judgment of the Veterinarian.
Intra-tendon injection: apply in the center of the lesion area with ultra sonographic guide preferentially.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
None known.
CAUTION AND WARNING
Strict aseptic technique should be observed when administering the injection, care should be taken to avoid scratching the cartilage surface with the tips of the needle. As with any intra-articular injection a transient inflammatory response (hot, edema, pain) may be observed in the treated joint. For better result, horse should be given 2 to 3 days of stall rest gradually resuming normal physical activity.
